Slice uses a secure protocol called OAuth (oauth.net) to allow for authorization to your Yahoo! Mail, Gmail or Outlook account. For these accounts, the authentication happens between you and Gmail or Outlook, and Slice does not receive the password. OAuth is used by many popular companies, such as Facebook, Twitter, Netflix and of course, Yahoo!, Google and Microsoft.
For mail providers that do not support OAuth, like AOL, iCloud/MobileMe, Comcast, and Cox, we store your email password to be able to process your receipts. The passwords are stored and encrypted in a separate, secure database.
